Welcome to Pasteur Foundation UK

Pasteur Foundation UK is a grant making foundation, supporting cross-border projects at the interface of multiple scientific disciplines taking place between the Institut Pasteur and leading UK based research institutions, tackling global public health challenges. We invest in young researcher mobility, multi-disciplinary research and encouraging impactful franco-british collaboration.

150 years later, at Pasteur Foundation UK, we still believe that the next major public heath challenges will be better addressed by multi-disciplinary international scientific cooperation.
Our mission is to raise awareness of, and support for, these scientific collaborations. We are delighted to have already partnered with a range of UK universities, research centres, private companies and trusts and are excited to continue to expand our network within the UK.

Our Mission
Advance Scientific Research
We provide critical funding for cutting-edge projects that push the boundaries of what is possible in medicine and global health.
Support Emerging Scientists
Our Young Researcher Mobility programmes empower the next generation of researchers to continue Louis Pasteur’s legacy of curiosity, discovery, and innovation.
Promote Global Health Equity
By translating research into action, we help bring lifesaving treatments and tools to the communities that need them most.
Our Three Founding Principles
Pasteur Foundation UK was founded on three principles, in line with the original values of the Institut Pasteur: Research, Education and Exploration of new public health initiatives. These principles form our core; the essential forces that power our scientific mission. Whilst our scientific priorities and strategy may shift and evolve, our core values of Research, Education and Exploration will remain.

At Pasteur Foundation UK, we acknowledge that the challenges we face today – whether in research, public health, medical innovation or public trust – are too vast and global to be solved by any single institution or country and thus we seek to promote mutually beneficial cross-channel research through strong partnerships with many leading UK institutions.

All our research projects are science-led and spring from organic connections between researchers who have sought a collaboration due to the mutual benefit of sharing skills.
Research
International collaborations are a key experience for any scientist and we believe this to be an especially crucial step for young researchers. The Pasteur Foundation UK Young Researcher Mobility Fund operates across all levels of higher education to allow early-career scientists to gain firsthand experience in the labs at Institut Pasteur and leading UK based research institutions. We believe this initiative to be essential in training the next generation of scientific leaders. We seek to make this key experience accesible for all young scientists, regardless of their financial situation through our fully-funded programmes.
Education

We are aware that cross-border collaboration is only possible if researchers are given the opportunity to interact and explore opportunities with other scientists working in their field.

At Pasteur Foundation UK, we are firm believers in the importance of scientific workshops, symposiums and conferences that give researchers the freedom to discuss, share and explore with no hidden agenda. The opportunity to discover potential connections and collaborations is key and we have seen many succesful Pasteur- UK partnerships that started in this setting.
